Our Problem of Knowledge; Brief Reflections on Knowledge and Development

Summary of Article by Kwasi Wiredu, 2000 / Edited by Ivan Karp & D.A. Masolo

Wiredu explains development as a condition in which there is a balance between technology and morality (culture) but if due to technological advancement a people get trapped in immorality, then that is not development at all. According to him, technological advancement should rather promote humane values instead of destroying cultures. Development should create a sense of communal instead of individualistic feeling in a society. He noted that a technologically advanced country can be morally underdeveloped.
